5 Sports Romance Books You’ll Love

5 Sports Romance Books You’ll Love (Even If You Don’t Love Sports!)

Football season may be underway, but we’d rather be reading. Luckily, you don’t need to be a sports fan to appreciate a swoon-worthy sexy romance that just so happens to feature a charming, brooding athlete. If you’re new to the sub-genre of sports romances or looking to read some new ones, here are five sports romance books you’ll love (even if you don’t love sports, and if you do, all the better!).

Intercepted (Playbook Series #1)- Alexa Martin

Marlee Harper is no stranger to the world of professional athletes. After all, she’s been dating her NFL-star boyfriend for the past decade. But when she discovers that he’s been cheating, she swears off athletes forever. That is, until the new quarterback, Gavin Pope, happens to be a fling from her past and is determined to show her he’s nothing like her ex.

You’ll fall in love with the Denver Mustangs, so thank goodness Intercepted is just the first in a series of three, with the fourth installment set to come out on October 20.

The Bromance Book Club- Lyssa Kay Adams

Nashville Legend’s second baseman Gavin Scott’s marriage is in big trouble. When he discovers that his wife, Thea, has been faking it in bed, his reaction causes their already strained relationship to crumble. Desperate to save his marriage, Gavin agrees to join a secret romance book club made up of Nashville’s most influential men and learns a lot more about what it means to love someone than he ever imagined.

While this book is also the first in a series, the other titles aren’t specifically sports romances since not all of the men in the book club are athletes. Still, if you enjoy this one, you’ll be sure to love the others!

Fix Her Up (Hot & Hammered #1) – Tessa Bailey

Ever since Georgette Castle chose to start her own party business rather than join her family’s house-flipping company, she’s felt like the class clown (literally). When an injury ends the career of Travis Ford, Major League Baseball’s hottest rookie, he’s forced to return to his hometown and deal with the loss of his dream. Georgie and Travis strike a deal: they will pretend to date in hopes that Georgie will be taken more seriously by her family and Travis’s reputation as a “player” will change, helping him land a new job.

Like Bromance Book Club, this sports romance kicks off a series but appears to be the only title featuring an athlete.

Evvie Drake Starts Over- Linda Holmes

In a small seaside town in Maine, Evvie Drake is recently widowed and won’t talk about it- not even to her best friend, Andy. Dean Tenney, Andy’s closest childhood friend, is a (now former) Major League Baseball pitcher who can no longer throw straight and can’t figure out why. When Andy invites Dean to Maine, Dean accepts the chance to take a break and reset. He moves into her apartment in the back of Evvie’s huge empty house, and the two make a deal: Dean won’t ask Evvie about her late husband, and Evvie won’t ask Dean about baseball. Their unexpected friendship soon turns into something more, and the two discover that maybe another chance in life is possible.

Head Over Heels- Hannah Orenstein

Elite gymnast Avery Abrams had one goal in life: make it to the Olympics. When a disastrous performance ruins her shot, and her boyfriend dumps her shortly after, Avery decides it’s time to return to her hometown and put her life back together. It’s only a matter of time until Ryan, an old crush and new gymnastics coach at Avery’s old gym, offers her a job coaching a young Olympic potential. Between a shocking scandal and the growing spark between Avery and Ryan, Avery might find love and herself in the process.
